The Hindu Afghan Religious and Cultural Association of Washington Metropolitan (HARCA) serves the local Afghan Hindu and Sikh diaspora. Headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland, the association operates the AsaMai Hindu Temple of Washington Metropolitan to preserve their distinct heritage, religious practices, and community events.

Community Overview:

The Hindu Afghan Religious & Cultural Association of Washington Metropolitan (HARCA) is established by and for diaspora residents across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C

Primary Location: The community gathers at the AsaMai Hindu Temple of Washington Metropolitan, located in the Silver Spring/Adelphi region of Maryland.

Cultural Roots: The organization provides a spiritual home for the small, tightly knit population of Afghan Hindu and Sikh refugees who fled conflict in Afghanistan, preserving centuries-old traditions, animistic fusions, and language (like Hindko, Punjabi, Sindhi, Kandari, Saraiki & Dari/Pashto in diaspora contexts.
